What is Pramlintide (SymlinPen)?

FDA-approved pramlintide is marketed as SymlinPen as an adjunct to mealtime insulin in specified adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who have not achieved desired glucose control.

DoseType 1 diabetes starts at 15 mcg before major meals with label-directed 15 mcg increases. Type 2 diabetes starts at 60 mcg before major meals and may increase to 120 mcg if tolerated. The label also directs a 50% initial reduction in mealtime insulin.
