Verified September 2026LightPath's third-generation Diesel, which I own: 322 LEDs at 670, 810 and 940 nm, with the controls moved to the side to make room for more LEDs. Outliyr measurements pending.
Pros
- I own the Gen 3. LightPath moved the control panel from the front to the side, which frees the face for LEDs: 322, up from 237 on the Gen 2 Diesel XL Shortie I tested
- Feels like a genuine modernization of the Gen 2: remote, memory of the last session, adjustable brightness and pulse settings
- Adds 940 nm near infrared alongside 670 and 810 nm, run as red only, NIR only, or both
- Works with door mounts, wall mounts and stands
Cons
- Outliyr has not measured the Gen 3 yet, and LightPath publishes no Gen 3 irradiance figure
- Weighted toward near infrared: LightPath lists one red wavelength (670 nm) and two NIR (810, 940 nm), so most of the output is NIR. The Gen 2 I tested had two reds (620, 670 nm) and one NIR (810 nm)
