Today, we’re going to be talking about your realm of expertise, and that is protocols for high achievers and what you call, you have a lot of protocols, the Resurrection Protocol. Let’s start off with how you arrived where you currently are. What made you interested in all this work?

Acusio Bivona [00:01:15]:
Yeah, so the old origin story. So my background has been in the fitness industry. I had been a personal trainer in the Los Angeles area for 10 years. As well as doing some online coaching and a couple different opportunities towards the latter, like, quarter about of that time. And then, truth be told, I became the Resurrection Coach because I had to go through my own resurrection because every aspect of my life seemed to be falling apart. And the end of 2023 going into 2024 was the most challenging 5-month span of my entire life in which there were 5 strikes, one that literally happened each month. The first strike was I lost the girl. So for anyone that’s gone through heartbreak or is going through heartbreak, I thought she was the one.

Acusio Bivona [00:02:05]:
If anyone’s ever gone through an avoidant discard, which if that makes sense to talk about, I’m happy to talk about. I went through it brutal. The next month, found out my mom got cancer for the third time. The next month, my 2 best friends at the time turned their backs on me. The next month, an online fitness coaching company that I was contracted with, who was negotiating a 7-figure contract to work with a professional esports team exclusively, fumbled the deal and went bankrupt. And then the next month, my business started to go down. And about a year later, I hit full system failure with my own business, of which much of 2025 was just trying to figure out how to get out of it. And although that 5-month stretch was the most stressful, arguably the most traumatic time period to ever happen to me, it was the greatest time period to ever happen for me.

Acusio Bivona [00:03:05]:
Because what I took it as is that it was an opportunity and a divine intervention from God to level up. And it made me reevaluate my faith. It made me reevaluate my business model. It made me reevaluate my target, who I want to serve. And most importantly, it made me reevaluate me and recognize who am I, what do I want to do, who do I want to be. And from that origin story, The Resurrection Coach was born, and the Resurrection philosophy was designed as a result of my own growth journey in various realms over a span of 2 years. And That philosophy or the protocol covers 4 major pillars, which is fitness, nutrition, mindset, and purpose. And what I help high-achieving men, founders, and executives do is discover their system failure or where they feel they may be drifting, integrate those protocols within the greater protocol, and establish a foundation for who they were meant to be, to be better leaders, better fathers, better husbands, better everything in 90 days.

And what I’m not saying is I’m going to solve all your problems or going to fix everything, but if you commit to the process and remain consistent, the groundwork is going to be laid to completely open your eyes, per se, to seeing how you can reach your full potential in any aspect, particularly the aspects in which system failure may be present.

When you are going through your own system failure, it’s easy to look back on events with hindsight and to, to see all the gifts in the struggle. How were you able to, while you were actually in the moment, work with yourself so that you didn’t let it spiral out of control and take you down? Because some people have system failure and don’t really recover from it.

Acusio Bivona [00:05:01]:
It’s a great question. And the truth is that wasn’t always the case. And I wanna share that, that being the truth, because I’m human. And while I’ve designed this protocol and have kind of figured out the path or the light and how to give this back, it wasn’t because of my perfection or perfectness as a result of going through the process. But there’s a particular moment and a particular day I actually remember, which was November 12th, 2023. This is probably the most important day and moment in my life. I remember I was right over there in my kitchen doing some meal prep, and I had the Sunday Night Football game on, and the day before I had just started going to therapy again. I was feeling good.

Acusio Bivona [00:05:48]:
I was feeling great. And then I just literally collapsed on my knees and just started wailing and started bawling. And the most important decision that I made was while on the floor having my breakdown moment, I put my hands up towards the sky. I looked up. I said, God, I cannot do this anymore. I need you. And the very next day, I started to see evidence that things were going to turn out better. I didn’t know what that was going to look like or when, because I was reading through the Bible at that time.

Acusio Bivona [00:06:22]:
And the passage I read that next day in particular, 1 Kings 3:5-14. Just made me go, okay, that like, we’re gonna be fine. I have no idea what this road looks like, but as long as I stay focused on the process and not the outcome, then I’m going to be okay. And one of the things that I love is the concept of kaizen, which is just a Japanese word. I believe it roughly translates to continuous improvement. And that was my attitude every single day. And that’s my attitude still.

Acusio Bivona [00:07:11]:
Clarity creates vision. Vision discovers purpose. And once you get to that point, then all you need to do is everything that’s in alignment with that purpose. And you just go forward from there.

Nick Urban [00:07:23]:
In general, it can be very helpful to zoom out, look at the bigger picture of things. It sounds like in a systems failure, in the middle of a crisis, that could be actually the worst thing to do because then you have the overwhelm of feeling like you need to figure it all out and have the 45-year plan and reverse engineer every milestone from there.

Acusio Bivona [00:08:05]:
Yeah, 100%. And I think the hardest part of that was if it had just been the discard, I would’ve been like, okay, like here’s the monster, let’s fight it. But the most challenging part was when more monsters started to appear. And my philosophy is listed into kind of 8 different tenets. One of those tenets, tenet number 4, is fight one monster. Choose one thing that’s going to be the thing you conquer. And the secret sauce is choose the easiest one.

Acusio Bivona [00:08:52]:
And the reason I say choose the easiest one is because you want to just build wins. And one of the things that I teach is a concept of unbreakable promises. And unbreakable promises are promises so small, if you’re not actually laughing at how small they are, they’re not small enough. Your brain doesn’t register the size of the win. It only registers the win itself. And you get the hormones of victory to hit, like dopamine, serotonin, things like that.

Acusio Bivona [00:09:30]:
You do that enough time, you can start building up your self-trust just like it’s a bank account. The best way to start and guarantee a deposit is to start with $1. So an example: do 10 pushups as soon as you wake up. That’s it. And do that every day.

Acusio Bivona [00:10:22]:
Instead of going to the gym 6 days a week for 2 hours, do 10 pushups as soon as you wake up. That’s slowly building the evidence that you can believe in yourself again. Let’s just stack the wins slowly and over a long enough period of time is when you look back and you see just how many wins you had, which only compounds the self-trust even more.

Nick Urban [00:11:34]:
Yeah. And in this realm, for people who are burnt out, founders specifically, the ones who are type A, hard charging, like scaling down and doing less and getting more out of doing less is like a hard concept to grasp and even harder to actually implement.

Acusio Bivona [00:12:03]:
That’s a great question. I also have a podcast called the Resurrection Podcast. Episode 12, I went over a metaphor that I call hot fusion versus cold resonance. When you want to do more, sometimes the best solution is to do less but the best that you can. Hot fusion literally is when atoms smash together to create energy.

Acusio Bivona [00:12:55]:
It’s force, it’s friction. In humans, that heat presents as inflammation in your joints or tedious lower back pain or snapping at your wife over the littlest things. What I teach is a concept of cold resonance where we want to view things more like a superconductor. When you take things down to absolute zero, the wire has zero resistance.

Acusio Bivona [00:13:51]:
So you get more power more efficiently for a longer period of time with zero waste. In cold resonance, we focus on alignment over effort. That doesn’t mean we don’t work hard. But there is always ways to make things more efficient.

Acusio Bivona [00:14:34]:
That could be having the hard conversations you’re avoiding, or toxic employees that are costing more than they’re giving. That is resistance. That is friction amongst the wire. So the Cold Resonance Protocol is removing the friction.

Acusio Bivona [00:15:02]:
The core of my protocol, the Resurrection Protocol, is we start with your body because it’s the number one thing you have the most control over, and the most visceral, tangible results. If you have a healthier body, you will have a healthier mind, and that will allow you to have a healthier spirit, which means that’s limiting resistance and gets you closer to cold resonance.

Nick Urban [00:17:01]:
There’s so many quotes around this concept. If I have 8 hours to cut down a tree, I’ll spend the first 7 of them sharpening the ax. The highest ROI is usually the very beginning of what you’re doing.

Acusio Bivona [00:17:46]:
The biggest win is just opening the door to the gym. If that’s a challenge, then the 10 push-ups can come in, because you did something immediately as soon as you woke up. That sets your alignment for the day.

Acusio Bivona [00:18:20]:
If you doom scroll as soon as you wake up, you’re setting the tone for the day. Your body is the hardware, your mind is the software. The very first thing I do in the morning is I make my bed and then I take a cold shower. I’ve been taking cold showers for over 2 years.

Acusio Bivona [00:19:24]:
I can tell all of you it never gets easier. I hate it. But because I hate it, that’s why I do it, because I know how good that splash of cold water is. The cold water is great for resilience in your nervous system and for the dopamine hit that wakes you up.

Nick Urban [00:20:21]:
There’s a part of the brain called the anterior midcingulate cortex that Andrew Huberman popularized. You strengthen that by doing things that you don’t want to do.

Acusio Bivona [00:20:39]:
This part of your brain literally grows by choosing voluntary discomfort, no matter what age you are. I call it the do hard muscle. That is resilience manifest into a body part.

Acusio Bivona [00:21:31]:
Growth is painful, no matter what kind it is. If you feel stuck, how much am I really challenging myself? The importance of willing to put ourselves through voluntary discomfort is so important for getting out of system failure.

Nick Urban [00:22:01]:
The reason you want to grow that is so that you’re able to enjoy the rest of life. Everything you want in life is on the other side of fear.

Acusio Bivona [00:22:23]:
The obstacle is the way. My second principle or tenet in my philosophy is radical self-accountability. And that’s hard for a lot of people.

It’s having the humility to really look at yourself and go, okay, part of this is my fault. 99% of this might have been because of the other person, but there’s something I can learn. Then the very next step is radical self-accountability.

Being willing to look within and understand where we’re misaligned is the fastest path to true liberation and true freedom in all capacities.

Nick Urban [00:24:57]:
There’s a very fine line where there are people who absolutely divorce themselves from all responsibility versus those who take on too much blame.

Acusio Bivona [00:25:45]:
Very often two things or multiple things can be true at once. Having the ability to zoom out and see the forest through the trees is the best way to find balance.

Carl Jung called that holding the tension of the opposites. What exactly is system failure? How do people know if they’re experiencing it?

Acusio Bivona [00:28:53]:
Anything where you feel like something is in the way of allowing you to be who you want to be. It could be repeating toxic relationships, professional burnout, distancing from your spouse or kids, or feeling like the weight of the world is on you.

Acusio Bivona [00:29:49]:
The difference in those who succeed is the awareness and bravery to do something about it. My number one mission is to provide enough info so that people can recognize system failure and not have to go through as much pain as I did.

Change is hard. That’s why most people will avoid it. But the obstacle is the way. If something is scaring you, good. That means you care about it.

The body is constantly providing feedback. It’s giving symptoms, it’s causing feelings. That’s one of the core skills to learn and to master.

Self-awareness in all realms is so important. Your primary care doctor is you. You are ultimately responsible for what you put in your body.

A true cheat code is solitude and silence. In the sound of silence, you hear the voice of God. If you just take 20 minutes every day to just be still with no input, you start to recognize how you think and how you are feeling. I do meditation twice a day with breathwork.

If you do a breathwork protocol, you actually notice a difference within 60 seconds to 5 minutes maximum. You can experientially test it yourself.

My best ideas tend to come from those times where I commit to that time to myself with zero input and just focusing on my breath.

I played football for a lot of my life. My best games were the ones where I cared the least. That’s when I would achieve flow state.

I track every single set that I do for my workouts. That’s like dopamine, dopamine, dopamine. One of my clients, I had him send a picture of a full water bottle every morning before work.

After about 6 weeks, it’s integrated. He does it without thinking now. It’s entered his subconscious.

What creates withdrawals from the self-trust account is saying you’ll do things and then not doing them. It’s not one giant stabbing, it’s death by a thousand cuts.

The digital blackout is zero social media for 7 days, ideally all of them, but specifically the one most related to your particular situation. If it’s a breakup, don’t go on Instagram. If it’s a professional meltdown, don’t go on LinkedIn.

If you just make the commitment to do that for 7 days, it allows you to get within yourself and go, okay, the dam broke. What do we do?

There are certain tools that can block websites and apps across all your devices. I use one called Freedom.

That’s tremendously valuable input. During the digital blackout, try different activities. Reading, walks, gym, playing the drums. Surround yourself with people who love you.

Acusio Bivona [00:49:04]:
My friends and family rescued me in the early stages. I went to a Thanksgiving and left my phone in the car for the entire evening. 3 weeks in. It was one of the best decisions I made.

Acusio Bivona [00:50:48]:
It’s finding that middle line of I know I need to work on this, but I can’t work on this 24/7. The most important vessels we have to take care of are us.
