Well-rounded biohackers take in information from a variety of sources, cross-reference it, and integrate it into our own viewpoints.

Every topic has multiple perspectives. By following multiple experts instead of blindly relying on a single one, you triangulate your own truths. Share on X

You certainly don’t have to follow this entire list. Over time, you’ll find the biohackers that you most align with and lean more on their work.

My list is not comprehensive and I will update it over time. When I chat with other biohackers, here are a few of the names that constantly come up.

Beginner-Friendly Biohacking Experts

We all start somewhere. These individuals masterfully distill the complex into simple, actionable steps for those of us without decades of advanced biochemistry research experience.

Dave Asprey

dave asprey

An engineer turned biohacker, Dave’s polarizing personality introduced the Western world to fat in their coffee. First grass-fed, and later coffee combined with MCT oil. He also came up with a diet.

Dave founded Bulletproof Labs in Los Angeles, like a gym but for biohacking technologies.

Specialties:

  • Diet
  • Nootropics

Advanced Biohacking Experts

Paul Chek

The only Native American Spirit Guide on the list, Paul combines kinesiology, stress management, and holistic wellness for a unique listening experience.

Some of his opinions are controversial and supernatural (more fitting than “unscientific”). Having only recently begun exploring spirituality in the last few years, I’m still grasping some of Paul’s material.

I like that his guests challenge the status quo.

Paul is the founder of the CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Institute.

Where to find him:

Peter Attia

peter attia

Another crowd favorite that is both on the front lines and an active human guinea pig.

Peter delivers a mix of clinical observations, relevant research, personal experiments, and motivation (I don’t know many people deadlifting 495 pounds after a seven-day water fast).

Some of his work is accessible to the layperson. In others, you will find mechanisms of action, molecular pathways, and cellular biology wrapped into valuable analogies for the listener.

His recent book Outlive is a textbook on longevity.

Although Dr. Attia clearly doesn’t know much about the original personalized medicine systems (Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine). And his aggressive approach to longevity results in side effects and potential other dangers.

John Douillard

john douillard scaled

John was one of the first to combine the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with modern medicine.

When neither modern medicine nor biohacking can solve a problem, John’s content often provides another useful perspective.

While a valuable resource, learning to view the world through another totally new framework takes time and can overwhelm even the advanced. It’s like growing up using the Standard/Imperial system, and then realizing that the rest of the world runs on Metric.

Specialties

  • Ayurveda
  • Circadian science

Few people in the world know nutrition quite like Chris.

He does a good job breaking topics down, but a lot of his content requires background (or extensive Googling).

An invaluable resource for all things micronutrients, Chris also touches on a wide variety of other topics. Go here for specific biochemical interactions and questions.

That said, if you don’t know SHBG from RT3 you should start elsewhere.

Honorable Mentions

For different reasons, I don’t consider these folks the top influencers of biohacking.

Nonetheless, they can still make for great follows.

Tim Gray

Tim Gray is known as the UK’s leading biohacker. He’s the man behind the wildly popular biohacking conference called the Health Optimisation Summit.

Tim stays abreast of the latest updates and tools of the biohacking world. You can find his work mostly on his Instagram account.

Bryan Johnson

Media tabloids featured Bryan Johnson’s now-famous $2M per year longevity protocol. For a while, he held the top spot on the Rejuvenation Olympics (a leaderboard of the humans purportedly aging slowest as measured by epigenetic age test kits).

His heavy supplement regimen paired with vegan diet other extreme biohacker, and the guidance of a full medical team make him standout in the anti-aging world.

Bryan’s fame declined a bit when his leaderboard position got surpassed by others spending just a few hundred dollars per month on their health. Still, he has some interesting findings and routines.

Dr. Andrew Huberman

Dr. Andrew Huberman has become a household name. Compared to just five years ago, only devout podcast enthusiasts would recognize his name from his guest appearances on other shows.

He’s largely responsible for popularizing the benefits and use cases of cold plunging, morning light exposure, and warning against the use of certain questionable biohacks.

Although I find some of his podcasts interesting, I regularly hear researchers and subject matter experts disagree with many of Dr. Huberman’s claims (that he has only superficial knowledge of).

Jay Campbell

For peptides and hormone optimization, few people know these arenas better than Jay.

Although top therapeutic peptides like BPC-157 have only gone mainstream over the last few years, Jay Campbell has researched and tested them for over two decades. His articles are well-researched and somewhat controversial.

He’s a bit more liberal with his use and advocacy of novel substances, but a great resources for you to learn the cutting-edge of peptides and hormones.

Lucas Aoun

If you’ve looked into nootropics, ergogenic aids, or explored the world of men’s hormones, there’s a decent chance you’ve come across the work of Lucas Aoun.

While he previously focused on cognition and athletic performance, over the last few years he’s pivoted to focusing on men’s health.

Still, some of his old podcasts and articles share interesting information I couldn’t find elsewhere. He merged his old website (Ergogenic Health) into his podcast, and now his entire platform is called Boost Your Biology.

Jay Feldman

Have you heard of the late Dr. Ray Peat? Dr. Peat was a thought leader, discussing topics that are only now gaining traction over a decade ago. If you’ve heard about the potential dangers of high-PUFA omega-6 oils, that’s mainly due to Ray’s work.

Jay studied Ray Peat, and understands his principles better than most. From there, he developed The Energy Balance diet, which is a way of eating based around the idea of maximizing cellular energy production.

What I like most about his work, however, is that he challenges pervasive health dogma. Highlighting another perspective and backing it up with ample research. You can check out his Energy Balance Podcast, or his articles on Jay Feldman Wellness.

Like I said before, avoid the temptation of blowing up your phone with dozens of new podcast episodes and articles from each of the above experts.

Go slow, take your time. Choose one to start with.

Pick one of the top health optimization books and savor it.

Eventually, look for someone who specializes in each of the biohacking pillars.
