Anti-aging researchers consistently rank molecular hydrogen (H2) as a “most promising supplement”.
But H2 isn’t just for longevity—it also enhances your mental and physical performance while supporting overall health.
H2, one of the oldest and most abundant elements in the universe, restores balance to every cell in your body.
So far, science has proven molecular hydrogen therapy to be incredibly safe & beneficial.
Molecular hydrogen is the ultimate antioxidant, selectively scavenging only harmful free radicals and maintaining healthy cell signaling Share on XTo fully harness the healing power of molecular hydrogen, you need higher doses—more than what you get from a glass of water, a deep breath, or a hydrogen water bottle.
The three most popular ways to take H2 are hydrogen water machines, special water bottles, and tablets. All options work, but as I’ll explain below, tablets prove to be the superior choice.
This post covers the top molecular hydrogen tablet brands and how you can distinguish quality products from junk.

Other Molecular Hydrogen Tablet Brands
In my research or personal experience, I came across products that didn’t hold up in comparison to the others. I have nothing against these brands (except Trusii), but I’d look elsewhere first:
- Aquah2: several users tested the products themselves. They found H2 concentrations of 1.8 ppm. I couldn’t find the manufacturer’s claimed PPM, but <2 isn’t good enough. Their 55mg of magnesium also makes me doubt how well the product actually works.
- Trusii H2 Tablets: I actually liked these tablets and they tested at a high 9 PPM. But upper management of the company is unethical. They got into legal trouble for scamming people with their H2 water-generating machines (another reason to choose tablets).
Background & Benefits of Molecular Hydrogen Explained
Molecular hydrogen is the smallest existent gas molecule, enabling it to benefit every single human cell. It acts as a selective antioxidant, only quelling problematic free radicals while avoiding those essential to good health.
Originally studied in Japanese hospitals, now over 1,000 peer-reviewed studies support molecular hydrogen as beneficial in both healthy populations and in 170 different diseases.
The H2 molecule is extremely bioavailable since it’s tiny and does not carry a charge. In humans, the greatest effect comes from cyclical ingestion. That means spreading out doses to a maximum of twice daily.
Some of the top science-backed benefits of molecular hydrogen include:
- Stabilizing blood sugar
- Reducing inflammation
- Alleviating brain fog
- Preventing neurodegeneration
- Improving metabolism in the brain
- Boosting NAD levels
- Reducing damage of chronic stress
- Protecting against EMF-induced damage
- Anti-aging
- Mitigating side effects of radiation therapy
- Mimicking the effects of fasting
Two of the greatest minds pioneering molecular hydrogen research and products include:
- Alex Tarnava (from Drink HRW)
- Tyler Lebaron
You can learn more in this thorough guide to the health & performance uses of molecular hydrogen therapy.
While molecular hydrogen tablets have been used since the 1990s, recent technological advancements have made this wonder antioxidant available, more effective, and affordable.
H2 Tablets Compared to Alternatives
There are three main ways of supplementing H2:
- Tablets
- Specially designed water bottles
- Machines that produce hydrogen water
Each has distinct pros and cons.
Molecular Hydrogen Water Bottles vs Tablets
You’ve probably heard of molecular hydrogen water bottles and wonder how they compare to tablets.
Gary Brecka has put these water bottles into mainstream awareness.
Here’s what the experts won’t tell you. It’s also why I haven’t reviewed the ECHO Hydrogen Water Bottle.
The best effects of molecular hydrogen occur when it’s administered in spikes. Large doses, 1-2X per day. The 4 PPM you get on the bottle’s highest setting isn’t strong enough to reap the full benefits.
For comparison, one quality tablet is 12+ PPM.
Then you have leakage. After six months or so of use, even a well-maintained bottle will leak and hydrogen will escape before you’re ready to consume it. Instead of 4 PPM, you may get 2-3.
And ECHO Water makes some of the best molecular hydrogen water bottles too.
Tablets vs H2 Water Generators
The two main ways of supplementing H2 are tablets and water generators.
Molecular hydrogen tablets are better than water-generating machines for several reasons:
- Portable
- Far cheaper
- Higher concentration (stronger pulse effect)
- Quick (generators can take 20+ minutes to produce a glass of water)
- Safer (not explosive, flammable, nor can I inhale chlorine gas)
- Generators must add TDS to get hydrogen to remain in the water
How to Get & Use the Highest Quality Molecular Hydrogen Tablets
Working with raw hydrogen is dangerous so few companies are willing to supply the necessary ingredients. Most brands source from the same manufacturers. But as molecular hydrogen research continues to boom, new discoveries make certain brands better than others.
When choosing molecular hydrogen tablets, note the following:
- California Proposition 65 or other warnings of potential toxic contamination.
- Parts per million (PPM) of the tablet. Molecular hydrogen only benefits at the higher doses.
- Third-party testing. Laboratories and users both test molecular hydrogen tablets and report the actual concentration. Some companies fall short of their label claims.
- Minerals and inactive ingredients. H2 needs to be combined with minerals to effectively concentrate in water.
- Open or closed container. Lower-quality products must be placed into sealed containers to achieve maximum potency. Product descriptions should indicate suitability for use in open containers.
How to Use H2 Tablets
Once you have your molecular hydrogen tabs, using them is easy.
First, determine if you purchased an “open container” or “closed container” product. If you don’t see “open container” listed anywhere, assume it’s closed container.
Second, fill the container with water or a non-carbonated beverage. Carbonation can interfere with molecular hydrogen.
Third, if using a “closed container” product, after dropping the tablet into the specified amount of water, seal the container until the tablet dissolves.
Fourth, once the tablet has dissolved drink quickly! Molecular hydrogen rapidly dissipates from water, so to maximize effects, don’t delay. According to Tyler Lebaron, drink the water as soon as the dissolving tablet floats to the surface.
Remember, it’s better to drink too early than too late.
How to use molecular hydrogen:
- Buy an H2 product
- Drop 1 or 2 tablets into a glass of water or any non-carbonated beverage
- Drink quickly as soon as the tab finishes dissolving
Note: keep tablets out of your mouth. There is speculation that swallowing the whole (undissolved) tablet is dangerous.
Testing the Potency of Molecular Hydrogen Tablets (PPM)
Warning: testing should only be done in a laboratory setting.
You can manually test H2 tablets to ensure that you’re getting the full advertised dose. The process is done by adding a testing solution (called H2 blue) to a glass of molecular hydrogen water.

Here are the steps to testing the PPM of your molecular hydrogen tabs:
- Add 1 H2 tablet to a glass of water
- Fill a small glass (or vial) with 6 mL of hydrogen water
- Add 10 drops of H2 blue testing solution to the 6 mL of hydrogen water
- Stir
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 and count total drops until solution remains blue.
Every 10 drops equals 1 PPM of molecular hydrogen. So if you add 30 drops, stir, and the solution stays blue, that means your tablet contains less than 3 PPM of H2.
This video shows the process:
Common Molecular Hydrogen Questions
Does hydrogen water really work?
Hydrogen water works in both the healthy and sick. Most notably, it is a powerful selective antioxidant, capable of acting on any cell, organ and tissue. It’s considered one of the top anti-aging supplements and is being researched for use in the treatment of 170+ different diseases.
What does molecular hydrogen do for the body?
Molecular hydrogen reduces oxidative stress and inflammation throughout the body. Since inflammation is at the root of most chronic disease, molecular hydrogen reverses brain fog, neurodegeneration, mimics the effects of fasting, and slightly increases energy.
What are the side effects of hydrogen water?
Considered very safe, molecular hydrogen water itself does not have any known side effects. However, tablets and H2 water generators can cause side effects from inactive ingredients and the off-gassing of other compounds.
How much hydrogen water should I drink a day?
Your ideal hydrogen water dose depends on the use case. It’s recommended to pulse molecular hydrogen usage 1-2 times per day, in the morning and evening. Follow the product recommendations.
Does hydrogen water give you energy?
Molecular hydrogen water users often report greater energy. It works by protecting and turbocharging mitochondria (cellular power plants) from damage, keeping energy high. In fact, greater energy is one of the most commonly reported effects.
The Best H2 Tablets of 2025 Reviewed & Compared
Supplemental hydrogen is a special molecule.
Over 1,000 studies support molecular hydrogen's use in treating 170+ conditions. Share on XAnti-aging researchers eagerly watch H2 along with other popular molecules like NR, NMN, and exogenous ketones.
When traditional treatment fails, people turn to molecular hydrogen. H2 water-generating machines hold promise, but the convenience, effectiveness, portability, and price of molecular hydrogen tablets make them the best choice.

What do you take? Am I missing any products? Let me know in the comments below.
Do you recommend any hydrogenators for a bath? I’ve heard great things but they are very expensive
Thanks. Jeanne Ward
Hey Jeanne! Great question and you’re right… they tend to be quite expensive. I use a device called the AquaCure which is a Brown’s Gas generator. It basically generates H2, oxygen, and some other constituents. He just released a “Micro-Bubbler” attachment for this very purpose. Haven’t tried it yet, but plan to at some point this year.
It seems most of these use the ingredient dextrose which is usually corn based. i have a corn allergy and have noticed in the past any supplement with dextrose bothers me. Do you know of any hydrogen tablets that do not use corn-based dextrose? thanks
Hey Suzie. You’re right! I just checked about 10 different products and they all contain dextrose. There aren’t many manufacturers and I wonder if dextrose is part of the process. If you find a product without corn dextrose, please let us know!
I love molecular hydrogen! Thanks for sharing
What do you think of a product called Recovery HydroFX? made by SevenPoint2. It’s a tablet that doesn’t have to be dissolved in water
Hi Marilyn, I checked it out and immediately came across red flags. SevenPoint2 does not advertise a PPM or dose of H2 specifically. They seem to market the alkalinity. SevenPoint2’s HydroFX mentions that H2 has been proven by “400” studies. That’s more than a decade outdated. I personally would go with one of the other options instead.
what about breathing hydrogen instead?
Hi Janet! Great question. I’m actually a huge fan of breathing molecular hydrogen. The problem is, most H2 inhalation machines are scams that don’t work as expected. I recently interviewed (episode will release in a few weeks) Alex Tarnava, who is one of the world’s leading experts on hydrogen as a supplement. He told me that very few machines actually deliver a therapeutic dose. I personally use the AquaCure AC50 Brown’s Gas System daily, which provides lots of H2 and also some other beneficial bioactives.
Hi Nick! Just wondering about Daniel Amen and his H2 Boost Molecular Hydrogen? He has it on his brainmd site.
Hi Wendy! I am a fan of Dr. Amen and his work. His H2 Boost wasn’t available when I wrote the article. I will check it out and let you know. If he endorses it though, I think it’s a safe choice.
Since H2 reduces ROS, & lowers inflammation generally, would taking at bedtime help to mitigate misc. overnight pains?
Hey Mike. Great question. Although this isn’t a medical claim, theoretically I can see how it may. Although I haven’t personally experienced that effect.
Hi Nick
Just wondering was the Dr Patrick Flanagan – Mega Hydrate supplement compared with the other forms of Molecular H2 supplements. If so any opinions?
Hi Jason!
Great question. I looked into his H2 supplement. It looks interesting and has been around for a while. My issue with it is the lack of potency information. I couldn’t find anything about the dose/strength of the H2. It seems that the primary active ingredient in his is Silica Hydride (unfortunately, in a proprietary blend). Have you tried it? I’d be curious to hear real-world experience.
Is there any possibility the h2 molecule tablets can cause tiredness.
Hey Maire, hmm. I’ve never heard of that but it’s possible. If it was just one time, I would think it might be another factor. How much and which did you take?
