I just got back from a three-month trip to India.
Maintaining my usual healthy routines proved incredibly challenging, plus I wanted to enjoy my trip.
So I indulged a little
During the trip, I got food poisoning twice. While I mopped up the symptoms easily with activated charcoal and other biohacks, my subsequent blood labs showed elevated markers commonly associated with parasite infections.
Plus, I noticed many of the usual symptoms indicative of a potential infection.
But even if I hadn’t gone abroad, I’d likely do an anti-parasite protocol.
They’re so common (even in first-world countries), that I’ve heard MDs and holistic health practitioners say…
“If you have a pulse, you have parasites.”
According to Paul Chek, 90% of the world has a parasite and/or fungal infection.
However, as you’ll learn later, if you’re wondering how to kill parasites, consider holding off. There’s an important order of operations to do a protocol properly.
Counterintuitively, parasites may even protect you.
In this article, I’ll share everything you need to know about them. Plus, I’ll share how to get rid of parasites the best way.
What are Parasites?
Parasites are unwanted organisms that live on or in humans (or other host organisms) and depend on the host for shelter, nutrition, and/or growth. They bury into organs and impair their function.
For example, parasites often bury their eggs in the mucus membrane of the small intestine. There, they steal the nutrients you consume first, before they can even pass through the portal vein to the liver and get distributed into your bloodstream.
Other organ targets include the stomach, gallbladder, liver, kidneys, even your brain.
There are four main distinct types of parasites, but they also share common characteristics.
Types of parasites
Protozoa are microscopic single-celled organisms that can multiply within their host. They often cause severe infestation. Examples include:
- Plasmodium species: Cause malaria
- Entamoeba histolytica: Causes amoebiasis
- Giardia lamblia: Causes giardiasis
Helminths are larger, multicellular organisms, also called worms. You can see them with the naked eye in their adult stages and range in size from a few millimeters to multiple meters long. These extract nutrients from their hosts. They include:
- Nematodes (Roundworms) such as Ascaris, Hookworms, and Pinworms
- Trematodes (Flukes) such as the Schistosoma species
- Cestodes (Tapeworms) such as the Taenia species
Parasites generally have favorite tissues and organs to lay their eggs in. Such as liver flukes, kidney flukes, and ringworm (skin).
Fungi can act beneficially when the right species are in balance with our gut flora. Others act as parasites and cause infections in humans and animals. The two most common include:
- Candida: Causes candidiasis
- Aspergillus: Causes aspergillosis
Some people also include a category called “ectoparasites”.
Ectoparasites are parasites that live on the outside of the host’s body:
- Fleas
- Lice
- Mites
- Mosquitos
- Ticks
Although for our purposes, we’ll focus on the former three.
The countless ways humans contract parasites
Parasite infections are quite common.
Some of the many ways you’re exposed to parasites include exposure to contaminated:
- Water
- Inhaling air
- Swimming in certain lakes
- Contact with soil & other surfaces
- Pets
- Contact with farm animals
- Toilet seats
- Food improperly washed by restaurants
- Undercooked meat
- Insect bites
- Sharing personal items (e.g., towels, razors)
- Sex
- Kids/daycare
- Using non-potable water for brushing teeth
Plus, the issue only gets worse as you age due to two things.
Decreased stomach acid and enzyme production reduce the body’s natural ability to destroy pathogens.
Then, increasing intestinal permeability. As more foods enter the bloodstream, the immune system gets triggered. Which causes endotoxin buildup, making the body more hospitable to parasites.
This study highlights the prevalence, and I believe it still vastly under-reported exposure,
More than 1 billion people world-wide are directly exposed to tropical parasites such as the causative agents of trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis and onchocerciasis, which represent a major health problem, particularly in impecunious areas.
Natural Products as a Source for Treating Neglected Parasitic Diseases
Even in the most pristine first world countries, we do not live in a sterile environment and never will.
Exposure isn’t the same as infection. But infection is also becoming more common for many reasons.
Over millennia, plants have developed powerful anti-parasitic defenses. When animals get an infection, they’ve learned to eat bitter and aromatic (essential-oil-containing) plants. Anti-parasitic plants help animals overcome their infections.
Humans today, on the other hand, rarely consume bitter compounds. Making us more susceptible to parasitic infection Share on XPlus, there’s the issue of biofilms. Biofilm is a substance that makes pathogens undetectable to the immune system. Micro-organisms often hide in biofilms to increase their survival and persistence [R].
Diet, environmental changes, antibiotic resistance, and other factors have made biofilms more common than ever [R].
Most parasite lab tests & diagnostics are useless
While researching this post, I came across many articles “debunking” parasite “pseudoscience”.
The information they present is very poorly informed. Such as this quote from Dr. Thomas Moore,
“For a long time, there have been people selling products with various health claims designed to separate people from their money… Parasite cleanses are the latest incarnation of a pseudoscientific health trend that sells the idea that there are toxins in your body that need to be purged.”
Do You Really Need to Do a Parasite Cleanse?
A quick glance through PubMed studies published within the last few decades, or even real-world clinical heavy metal testing would immediately dispel that last part.
Every human today has significant levels of toxicants such as glyphosate, PFOAS, BPA/BPE/BPS, heavy metals, micro-plastics, and a laundry list of other substances that absolutely harm biology.
Nonetheless, parasite testing is unlikely to help you because:
- Tests only identify about 150 different parasites out of the 1,000+ that exists
- The body will not excrete many of them in stool or make them visible in blood tests.
- Parasites can live anywhere in the body, not just stool
- They have a 2-6+ week life cycle, most of the time they’re hard to detect
- Parasites leaving the body secrete an enzyme and self-dissolve within 24 hours
So even in the off chance that the lab gets a positive sample for one of the select known parasites, by the time they analyze it they’ll likely find nothing.
Parasite testing just isn’t very helpful.
Common symptoms
Do you experience any of the following?
Parasite infections manifest as a confusingly diverse array of symptoms, including:
- Poor blood sugar control
- Insomnia and other sleep issues, especially waking up at 1-3 AM
- Clenching/grinding teeth (bruxism), particularly while sleeping
- Excess gas
- Low mood
- Frequent itching (ears, skin, anus)
- Multi nutrient deficiencies
- Adrenal stress
- Persistent headaches
- Ovarian dysfunction
- Anemia (parasites feed off iron)
- Liver problems (abnormal ALT & AST biomarkers)
- White blood cell issues (high Eosinophils)
- Heavy fatigue
- Nervous system (ANS) issues
- Frequent vomiting or diarrhea
- Constipation
- Poor digestion
- Burping
- Hormonal dysregulation
- Fever
- Chronic inflammation
- Auto-immunity
- Small intestine issues
- Dizziness or vertigo
- Muscle cramps or weakness
- Food sensitivities, especially raw foods
- Abdominal pain
- Unexplainable weight loss
As you can see, this affects virtually every part of the body.
During each 24-hour period, the worst symptoms present themselves at night while you sleep as this is when parasites are most active.
If you experience some of these symptoms and imbalanced indirect blood markers, consider this further.
Dangers of ignoring treatment
Procrastinating treatment might seem like a viable option.
Living with an infection is a big mistake. They can cause permanent damage to your brain, central nervous system, or other organs Share on XIn fact, a previous podcast guest of mine (an elite bodybuilder that once won Mr. Olympia) named Wade Lightheart almost lost his eye from a parasite infection. From a parasite he picked up while on a short vacation in Bali.
Some of the potential risks of procrastinating treatment include:
- Organ damage or complete destruction
- Loss of bodily function
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Weight gain and slow metabolism
- Accelerated biological aging
- Worsening of symptoms or existing conditions
- Causing cancer, hear disease and others [R]
- Co-infection due to compromised immunity
- Death
If you’re purchasing supplements or high-quality foods, instead of nourishing you, those may just be feeding your infection.
Simply put, you cannot maintain optimal health with high levels of parasites.
But first, you should know something strange.
The health benefits of parasites
Parasites have an obviously negative reputation.
After all, they’re literally parasitic—furthering themselves at your cost.
But here’s something even the experts rarely discuss.
Parasites can actually have a beneficial role.
As this study mentioned [R],
Intestinal parasites and parasitic secretions have shown to stimulate and train the innate and adaptive immune regulatory pathways, modulating the immune responses
Parasites also may bring about:
Perhaps most importantly, however, they may shield you.
For example, they sequester toxicants. In fact, some can sequester 8X their weight.
So if you kill the parasites without addressing the cause, you may just undo a protective mechanism (and they’ll come back).
As you’ll see below, if you have an infection, I recommend first undergoing a cellular detox. That’s usually the underlying factor that causes recurring infections.
At the right time, however, a parasite cleanse has all kinds of potential upside.
Benefits of a cleanse
Addressing parasite issues and their underlying causes can result in all kinds of improvements.
Some benefits of a true parasite cleanse include:
- Digestive health: Restoring the delicate balance of your gut microbiome, promotes optimal digestion and absorption of nutrients (and less bloating, gas, and discomfort).
- Energy levels: Parasites sap resources and your energy. Removing them alleviates the burden on your body, allowing you to experience a surge in energy and productivity.
- Mental clarity: Think sharper, enjoy better memory, and experience overall greater cognitive function.
- Mood & emotional balance: They can manipulate and steal neurotransmitters like GABA, serotonin, dopamine. After a cleanse you may notice greater emotional balance, happiness, and overall wellbeing.
- Radiant skin & hair: Infection can contribute to issues like acne, eczema, and dullness. A parasite cleanse can help restore your “natural glow”, leaving you with healthier, more vibrant skin and luscious locks.
- Weight loss: Metabolic disruptions contribute to unnecessary weight gain. Directly and indirectly through increased cravings, insatiable hunger, etc.
- Stronger immune system: Parasites drive inflammation and immune over-activation. Chronically, this weakens your immune system and makes you more susceptible to infections and illnesses. A successful cleanse bolsters your body’s defense mechanisms.
- Alleviated allergies: Excess inflammation and immune system dysregulation worsen allergies. Eliminating these unwanted guests often significantly reduces allergy symptoms.
- Sleep quality: Infections can cause insomnia, restlessness, and general sleep disruptions. Cleanses can restore healthy sleep patterns, letting you wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
- Less joint & muscle pain: Certain parasites cause inflammation in the joints and muscles specifically, increasing pain and discomfort. Elimination can ease chronic pain and grant you greater mobility.
- Athletic performance: Physical performance is partially determined by nutrition, energy, and recovery. Cleansing can help you overcome each factor hindering your athletic performance.
- Balanced hormones: Hormones and neurotransmitters shape much of your life experience. Parasites disrupt the delicate balance, causing symptoms like irregular periods, mood swings, auto-immunity, hypothyroid, and low libido. Perhaps the low-hanging fruit is simply to rid these micro-organisms.
- Natural detoxification: Parasites produce toxic waste byproducts that burden your body’s detoxification systems. Worsening many symptoms and conditions. Eliminating any infections makes can make a big difference, fast.
- Overall wellbeing: Pathogens drain your energy. Physical, mental, emotional, and “life force”. When you remove that drain, you’ll likely feel lighter, healthier, and more vibrant.
Interestingly, these micro-organisms actually can alter your behavior. For example, they can create irresistible cravings. Or make you want to avoid certain foods (that would harm them).
They hijack your hormones and brain chemicals to make you feel different.
Getting rid of parasites can make you feel more in control. And more like… you.
Done right, a scientific cleanse will bring about a multitude of potent health benefits that go well beyond just eliminating unwanted parasites.
The Ultimate Anti-Parasite Protocol
Before buying a bunch of anti-parasite supplements and products, you should see the 10,000 foot overview of the process.
With parasite cleanses for humans, your success comes down to two often overlooked factors: timing and duration.
The minimum effective protocol is one to two weeks around the full moon, as this is when parasites are most active. Parasites thrive on serotonin (naturally increased around full moons), and they’re also most active at night.
Every parasite has a different lifecycle and thus different potential remedies.
As one group of researchers concluded,
Unlike most antibiotics, there is no “general” antiparasitic drug available. Here, the selection of antiparasitic drugs varies between different organisms. Some of the currently available drugs are chemically de novo synthesized, however, the majority of drugs are derived from natural sources such as plants which have subsequently been chemically modified to warrant higher potency against these human pathogens.”
Natural Products as a Source for Treating Neglected Parasitic Diseases
If you have chronic health conditions, you’ll most likely require a protocol longer than two weeks.
Regardless, you must run the anti-parasite protocol for long enough. If you stop too early, you won’t kill the ones in the egg/larvae stage. Then they’ll hatch, and these new ones will have adapted to tolerate the anti-parasitic substances you previously used.
If this happens, you’ll start feeling better and then experience a resurgence of your symptoms.
Now that I’ve really emphasized the importance of following through, let’s dig into the protocol.
Identify your baseline
As I mentioned in the benefits, these infections change your behavior and personality.
To gauge your progress, I highly recommend logging down your current symptoms, mood, feelings, beliefs, etc.
Parasitic detoxes have equally powerful effects on your mind and emotional health Share on XI highly recommend doing a thorough blood lab panel to really help focus your efforts. For example, my bloodwork highlighted my greatest need as kidney and liver support.
You can also fill out an intake form to help you spot areas of potential improvement.
If you can afford it, a highly effective premium tool to use is bioresonance testing. This will show you more detailed information about the infection (such as its location in the body).
At the very least, jot down your symptoms and current state.
Prepare
Detoxification and eliminating parasites take a lot of biological resources.
Done wrong, these can actually cause harm or make things worse.
So first, you must supply your body with the raw materials needed to carry out these processes. The primary nutrients you need more of are minerals. Macro-minerals and trace minerals specifically. These lessen the burden on your body and make each process more efficient.
Make sure that your detoxification organs and pathways work properly. These primarily include your:
- Liver
- Kidneys
- Lungs
- Skin
- Bowels
Target whichever pathways of yours are most strained.
Most people benefit tremendously from focusing on supporting the liver and kidneys during this phase.
Every day, you should be sweating; having 1-3 bowel movements; breathing properly; and producing a normal amount of urine.
Before starting a cleanse, each of these detox functions must work properly.
Especially bowel movements, as this is the route your body uses to eliminate parasites. If you’re having trouble here, consider consuming more vitamin C, fiber-rich foods, and magnesium.
This is also the time to work on stimulating your vagus nerve and regulating your nervous system.
If you’re new to all this, I’d spend at least four weeks in this preparation phase.
Disrupt & bind
The next step before beginning the actual protocol is to bring down the defenses against pathogens and help the body more effectively eliminate them.
The two components of this are:
- Busting biofilms
- Binding toxicants
Biofilms first. As previously mentioned, Biofilm is a special mucous created by parasites and other pathogens. They use it to evade detection and eradication by your immune system. Luckily, many ingredients can help you punch holes in biofilms and break them down. Helping your body eliminate effectively.
I’ve listed a bunch of them in the next section. Since each substance works differently, you’ll want to look into the recommendations to use your chosen ingredient to bust biofilms. Or, you can get a multi-ingredient-in-one supplement specially formulated for this purpose.
Binders, on the other hand, latch on to toxicants for elimination. They’re the core of natural detox, and also essential to a scientific de-parasite program.
Toxicants generally accumulate in your lymphatic system. Every time you do something that moves lymph (walking, sauna’ing, exercise, deep tissue massages, whole body vibration—even deliberate breathing or taking hot baths), you circulate toxicants.
Parasites carry toxicants like heavy metals, mycotoxins, aflatoxins, synthetic chemicals, and pathogens (bacteria, fungi, viruses). When you kill the parasites, each of these go back into your bloodstream and circulation.
Again, your detox organs must process these urgent threats, adding a massive unnecessary burden.
If you’re unlucky, these toxicants can get lodged in tissues and organs (even your brain). Which can feel extremely unpleasant and be downright dangerous.
Sidestep these issues by simply taking a binder. Some are more potent (and also neutralize beneficial substances like nutrients) and others are more gentle. I’ve listed a few of the top binders in the section below.
So, you’ve now broken up biofilms protecting pathogens and bound up their toxic cargo.
Foods & supplements
Like most pathogens, parasites thrive on processed foods, sugars, and booze.
In addition to the normal health benefits of reducing your consumption of these, you’ll also create a more anti-inflammatory state which helps reduce parasitic load.
Eating right will provide the parasites with less food and introduce fewer toxicants into your body (that you’ll need to waste energy detoxifying). Share on XGeneral nutrition rules of thumb while on a parasite cleanse include:
- Avoid processed foods, sugar, soda, juice
- Minimize starch and fruits
- Pick wild caught fish
- Choose organic meat (ideally grass-finished or grass-fed)
- Consume organic dairy (raw is ideal)
- Drink ample filtered water
Then, if you’re ready to take it up a notch, certain foods can paralyze, or even kill parasites. I recommend this before going on to the powerful herbs and supplements.
Try these naturally anti-parasitic foods recommended by the Parasite Mama:
- Garlic (especially raw)
- Raw honey
- Coconut meat & coconut oil
- Ginger
- Dates
- Figs
- Bitter melon
- Fennel
- Pumpkin seeds
- Cucumber seeds
- Watermelon seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Papaya
- Papaya seeds
- Pineapple
- Cabbage
- Onions
- Cinnamon
- Leeks
- Sage
- Aloe vera
- Oregano
- Thyme
- Beets
- Pomegranate
- Raw carrots
- Berries
- Fermented foods
- Radishes
- Turmeric
- Spicy foods
- Lemons and limes
- Apple cider vinegar (with the mother)
Don’t go crazy; try them one at a time to see how they make you feel.
All the while, make sure you’re getting plenty of clean water. Cleansing increases your needs. My rule of thumb is to drink half your bodyweight (pounds) in ounces of water per day. As a 200 pound man, I target about 100 ounces of water.
Re-assess
After you’ve followed this protocol for a while, you’ll want to log your progress.
How do you feel? How’s your mood? Have any symptoms changed? Worsened? Improved? Again, write it all down (paper or electronically).
If you feel significantly better, you may want to re-test. Either another blood panel or bioresonance test.
Blood can be a bit slower to respond, so if you go that route, I recommend waiting at least 10-14 days after you feel better before re-testing.
If you don’t yet feel any better, you can try provoking the parasite.
Only if you’ve managed to keep your levels of biological stress fairly low (increasing vagal tone with HRV training is a great idea), fasting can be a useful tool.
I know certain practitioners that use a three-day fast and track symptoms to determine the exact type of parasite.
That’s because when you fast, you starve them out. Then, by noting down when symptoms return, you can use a manual to correlate that duration with particular parasite lifecycles.
Products & Supplements to Help Eliminate Parasites
If you’ve made it this far, you might wonder what are the best anti-parasite supplements, ingredients, tools, and products.
So I’ve compiled some of my top picks for each need and use case.
Biofilm busters
Micro-organisms hide in biofilm. In order to get rid of parasites, we must break up biofilm. Otherwise, they can persist in your body for years (even indefinitely).
All kinds of supplements and single ingredients accomplish this.
Some of the best anti-biofilm ingredients include [R, R, R]:
- NAC
- Black cumin
- Monolaurin
- Serratiopeptidase
- Nattokinase
- Ozone therapy
- Magnesium
- Monolaurin (coconut oil)
- Caprylic acid (coconut oil)
- Polyphenols
- Probiotics
- Resveratrol
- Lactoferrin
- Neem
- Oregano (oil of oregano especially)
- Baicalin
- Biocidin
- Zeolite
Other herbs and spices like garlic (allicin and ajoene), ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and turmeric can help too. I recommend cooking with them to get the best effects.
Unfortunately, not all of these work against all biofilms. So you’ll either want to combine them or, if you know exactly what parasites you have, you can determine the most effective specific biofilm busters.
Consider using several biofilm disruptors at the start of your protocol.
Enzymes
Enzymes help us break down food into its constituent parts.
They also work closely with stomach acid to neutralize parasites and other pathogens. Yes, there are pathogens (including parasites and their eggs) in the food we eat and water we drink.
In fact, if you have an issue with low stomach acid (as most of the world does), your first line of defense against infection doesn’t work.
Plus, you won’t really absorb nutrients well either.
Several biofilm busters listed above also improve the body’s digestion (serrapeptase and nattokinase). Plus, other digestive such as lipase, protease, cellulase, bromelain, and others.
To make matters worse, enzyme production decreases dramatically with age.
Most people do very well taking digestive and/or systemic enzymes.
My go-to is MassZymes, which contains everything you need. That company also carries other enzyme products specially formulated to a specific diet (keto/carnivore, vegan/vegetarian/plant-based).
Binders
Binders are a special category of ingredient that stick to toxicants, chemicals, and parasites. Helping your body eliminate them.
They make detoxification far safer and more effective. Binders are equally essential for getting rid of parasites.
Some of the best supplemental binders include:
- Chlorella micro-algae
- Shilajit (fulvic and humic acids)
- Mimosa pudica
- Organic apple pectin
- Bentonite clay
- Coconut-derived activated charcoal
Chlorella and shilajit are my favorite, because they’re more gentle and also simultaneously nourish the body.
Mimosa pudica is commonly used for parasite cleanses (although note that it passes in stool and is often mistaken for parasites).
Activated charcoal is quite strong and often recommended, but it can also cause constipation (which negates a lot of the benefits of opening your detox pathways). Plus, charcoal also deactivates vitamins, minerals, supplements, and other substances you eat/take for an hour or two after every use.
Make sure to use binders while detoxing to reduce symptoms.
Natural ingredients
Certain herbs and natural ingredients have a long history of usage among functional medicine doctors to help rid the body of parasites.
many clinics effectively use them yet lack much scientific evidence.
These substances here are the ones that do the heavy lifting and actually kill parasites.
The top botanicals, herbs, ingredients, and substances include:
- Black walnut husk & leaves
- Mimosa pudica
- Wormwood
- Black seed oil
- Essential oils
- Pumpkin seed
- Papaya seed
- Turmeric
- Goldenseal root
- Barberry bark
- Clove
- Garlic root
- Grapefruit seed
- Turkish rhubarb root
- Enzymes
- Fennel seeds
- Slippery elm
The general recommendation of using these for a cleanse ranges from 4-14 days of use. If you continue to use the substance for longer than that, you risk the parasites developing tolerance and them becoming ineffective.
Now, here are the best botanicals you can consider using to kill parasites.
Black walnut
Black walnut, particularly its hulls, has a long history of use in treating parasitic infections. The key compound in black walnut hull is juglone, which disrupts the metabolic processes of parasites, leading to their elimination.
Juglone is a natural herbicide and has a high concentration of tannins. Its strong anti-parasitic properties make it effective against a variety of intestinal worms and other parasites [R, R, R].
Traditional use and studies confirm that black walnut also acts as a gentle laxative, furthering the cleansing benefits. This is definitely one of the better ingredients, and most anti-parasite products include it.
Mimosa pudica
Mimosa pudica, commonly known as the “sensitive plant,” shows great parasite-fighting potential. It’s one of the most common ingredients used.
The seeds of this plant contain natural compounds that paralyze and eliminate intestinal parasites.
Studies conducted in labs have shown that Mimosa pudica disrupts the movement and lifecycle of various worms—making it harder for them to survive and reproduce [R, R, R]. This is one of the best ingredients to use.
Black seed oil (Nigella sativa)
Black seed oil, derived from the seeds of Nigella sativa, is known for its potent anti-parasitic properties. The primary active compound, thymoquinone, disrupts the life cycle of various parasites (especially Schistosoma mansoni, Plasmodium yoelii, Eimeria stiedae, and cestode worms). Impairing their ability to reproduce and thrive within the host.
Research suggests it also enhances your immune response, improves liver health, kills parasites directly, reduces survivability of eggs, and reduces the damage caused by parasitic activity [R, R, R]. Most of the research was conducted in animals though. I use this product.
Wormwood (Artemisia)
Wormwood is a shrub plant with several effective anti-parasite species [R]. Artemisia absinthium is the most popular species, and it’s powerful against helminth infections. Recommended duration of this one tends to be quite a bit longer than average [R].
Essential oils
Essential oils are highly-concentrated substances derived from plants. Every plant contains several different potent oils. Three of the best essential oils to kill parasites include oregano oil, thyme, and clove.
Oil of oregano contains carvacrol and thymol and has demonstrated effectiveness against a wide range of parasites. Thyme just contains thymol which is known for its antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitussive, antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, antiviral, and antiparasitic properties.
Clove contains eugenol, which disrupts the lifecycle of parasites by interfering with their cellular membranes and metabolic processes. It also prevents them from hatching further.
Oil of oregano is my top pick, followed by clove and then thyme.
Papaya & pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin and papaya are two of the most popular natural parasite remedies that went vital on TikTok.
Some research suggests these seeds really help deworm [R, R]. Papaya contains enzymes like papain that break down parasites and their eggs. It appears effective against a wide variety of intestinal worms. Pumpkin, on the other hand, contains cucurbitacin, which paralyzes parasites and makes them easier to expel. This is used to treat tapeworms and roundworms.
To get noticeable effects, you’d need to consume large quantities or take a supplement.
Coffee enemas
Coffee enemas are an unsexy but extremely useful tool for anti-parasite protocols because of their potential to detoxify the liver and promote the elimination of parasites from the digestive tract.
When administered rectally, the caffeine and other bioactive compounds in coffee stimulate the liver to produce more bile, which aids in flushing out toxicants and parasites. This process also triggers the dilation of bile ducts, thoroughly cleansing both the liver and gallbladder.
Additionally, coffee enemas can help ease constipation, which is a common side effect of parasite die-off. Reducing the likelihood of you reabsorbing these harmful substances. All while supporting overall digestive health.
You get to enjoy upregulated antioxidant defense (ie glutathione production) pathways.
Finally, coffee enemas contain caffeine. Though this caffeine bypasses normal metabolism, boosting energy levels and enhancing mental clarity to an even greater extent. This can be a lifesaver if you’re experiencing fatigue and brain fog often associated with parasitic infections.
Rife machines
Rife machines are alternative energy medicine device used in some anti-parasite protocols.
Named after Dr. Royal Raymond Rife, these machines generate specific frequencies believed to target and destroy specific pathogens, including parasites. The theory behind Rife machines is that every organism vibrates at a particular frequency, and by matching this frequency, the machine can disrupt the parasite’s cellular structure, leading to its destruction.
Kind of like how a singer producing a sound wave at a particular frequency can shatter a wine glass.
Rife machines transmit frequencies into the body. Practitioners claim that this method can effectively reduce the load of parasites without harming the host’s tissues.
Since these treatments are non-invasive, individuals can conveniently use them as standalone or alongside other treatments, such as herbal remedies, to enhance their effectiveness.
They’re usually quite expensive, so you’ll want to work with a practitioner to go this route. Or, you can try some of the other energy medicine devices that can produce similar effects. Check out my review of the inexpensive Infopathy IC pad.
All in one parasite cleanse supplements
A handful of products were intelligently formulated to include different ingredients all in one supplement.
I wouldn’t rely on these alone, but they are quite effective when combined with the lifestyle practices previously mentioned.
My favorite anti-parasite supplements include (favorites first):
- BiOptimizers Para Guardian
- Cymbiotika Para X
- Peak Performance Para Drops
- Qi Supplements Zoiben Parasite Cleanse & Yeast Detox
- 60 Day Internal Klenz Kit
- Humaworm
Although I haven’t used most of those, the same brands/products came up when I interviewed experts, practitioners, and consultants.
At this stage, your most important consideration is that the product uses multiple, high-quality ingredients proven to kill parasites.
Outliyr Parasite Cleanse Protocol
If this all seems too complicated, you can simply prepare your body by following the lifestyle practices mentioned above. Then, just add an all-in-one anti-parasite product.
To recap the steps:
- Start by jotting down how you currently feel. Log your thoughts, symptoms, etc.
- Protect against reinfection by ensuring you have high levels of digestive enzymes and stomach acid (or via supplementation).
- Open your core detox/drainage pathways.
- Clean up your diet to discourage parasite proliferation.
- Break down biofilms with a diet rich in particular foods or use a dedicated supplement.
- Take a binder to latch on to parasites to aid their elimination.
- Time your protocol to coincide ideally with the full moon.
- Kill the parasites either by combining multiple ingredients or using an all-in-one anti-parasite supplement.
- Continue for two weeks or until your symptoms go away.
- Revisit your symptom log, notice any changes and the way you currently feel, and adapt accordingly.
If, after two weeks, you still have symptoms, you’ll want to switch up your product/active ingredients used to kill parasites. This is because they adapt and build tolerance quickly.
It’s common to feel bad temporarily as you begin. When parasites die off, they release heavy metals, LPS, chemicals, and other highly toxic substances. This is called the Herxheimer reaction, and taking a larger dose of binders usually fixes it.
Common Parasite Questions & Answers
Parasites are a tricky topic, and you probably get lots of questions.
Can you get rid of a parasite on your own?
Yes. Countless people have successfully gotten rid of parasite infections through at-home cleanses. Parasites aggressively regenerate, so you must follow a proven protocol and use recommended ingredients to fully eradicate them. Otherwise, consider hiring a professional health practitioner.
How do you know if you have a parasite?
Symptoms of a parasite infection are diverse and often include problems with digestion, mood, sleep (insomnia), intense cravings, imbalanced liver or kidney blood test results, itchiness, allergies, chronic fatigue, and just not feeling “like yourself”. Traditional lab tests often give false-negative results, so practitioners often recommend getting a bioresonance scan.
How long does it take to get over a parasite?
After you contract parasites, you may notice significant improvements within the first 3 days. It can take between two weeks up to six months to fully eliminate them from your body [R]. Parasites can live in your body for years without causing symptoms, so it’s important to continue your protocol until you’re confident that you’ve killed them all.
What are the best natural foods, supplements and products to quickly get rid of parasites?
The very best substances with anti-parasitic effects include black walnut, wormwood, mimosa pudica, black seed oil, oregano oil, clove oil, thyme oil, goldenseal, garlic, turmeric, neem, papaya and pumpkin seeds, and enzymes. Some of these herbs and ingredients have undergone studies in humans, while others have only been tested on animals and cells.
Do an Effective Parasite Cleanse for Maximum Benefit
With ever-increasing modern sanitation practices, parasites seem like an antiquated concept. Especially to those living in first-world countries.
As you saw, infection is incredibly difficult to diagnose and thus under-reported. Similar to the stats on SIBO and gut dysbiosis, I’d venture that the vast majority of parasite-carriers are oblivious to their infection.
To make things worse, unique combinations from hundreds of potential symptoms can masquerade as virtually any health condition.
Yet the consequences of procrastinating treatment (knowingly or unknowingly) can be deadly. Literally. Or, in the case of ex-Mr. Olympia and a previous podcast guest of mine, he would have lost an eye had he delayed treatment another day. Not just the eyes, but they can invade and damage any organ or tissue.
Even in the short-term, parasites can alter your psychological. Nefariously manipulating your brain chemicals (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, etc), hormones, and more to cause you to act against your will. Share on XPerhaps those irresistible cravings and subsequent weight gain literally didn’t come from you.
These unwanted micro-organisms can even penetrate the brain’s force field (called the blood-brain barrier) and infect brain tissue.
But before you grab something strong to stop them in their tracks, remember that they can also have a beneficial effect.
Parasites can protect you from heavy metals, chemicals, and toxicants. In fact, they can sequester up to 8X their weight.
So if you’re planning a cleanse, make sure to do a proper protocol. Otherwise, by liberating all those toxins back through the body, you may do more harm than good.
I’ve gone through the preparatory steps and have just begun the “killing” phase where I introduce the anti-parasite substances.
For those that are pregnant or breastfeeding, everything through the detox phase can be helpful. But I wouldn’t consider a parasite cleanse with the full approval of your doctor.
