Imagine a biohacked light so powerful it puts you into psychedelic-like states within minutes.
Only, without the illegality, side effects, unpredictability, and massive time commitment of the physical substance.
And that’s just one of the potential use cases. This same light can transform your:
- Sleep
- Stress
- Cognition
- Euphoria
- Creativity
- Anxiety
- Pain
- Subconscious beliefs
- Undesirable behaviors
Plus a whole lot more.
Now imagine a device was so strong that it could induce these peak states in entire groups simultaneously.
Sounds too good to be true, I know. I’ve found what appears to be the best “hypnagogic” light therapy device for brain health and performance.
If you’ve heard of the Lucia Light, this is a better alternative.
In this article, I’ll review the roXiva RX1 device, share my experience, and everything you need to know about it.
What Is The roXiva RX1?
RoXiva’s RX1 is a light therapy lamp that combines stroboscopic white light with special immersive audio to put your mind into peak states.
The device contains high-power LEDs. Specifically, 8 warm and 8 cool white LEDs. The RX1 lamp comes pre-installed with 150 different programs for every goal, constraint (i.e. time), and use case.
Plus, they’re constantly releasing more.
If you’re like me, however, you probably want to know how it works and any science backing the claims.
How It Works (Science & Research)
The roXiva process itself is simple.
You lie under the light, close your eyes, and enjoy the choreographed audio and lighting sequence you chose.
Closing your eyes improves the safety of stroboscopic light and has the added benefit of naturally putting you into a more relaxed state Share on XThroughout the session, you see an array of shapes, patterns, fractals, and colors.
Although you see vibrant colors, the RX1 really just emits white light (I would have sworn it was red and orange after my first session).
At its core, roXiva works using two related technologies:
- Brainwave entrainment (BWE)
- Audio-visual entrainment (AVE)
The scientific community has studied both extensively.
I’ll explain each.
Brainwave entrainment (BWE)
BWE refers to how external rhythmic stimuli (most often light, sound, or electromagnetism) put your brain into novel states.
Brainwave entrainment is fundamental to the success of most tools that claim to change your brain state Share on XThe flashing, beating, and vibrating of the stimuli are all parameters that impact your state change. RoXiva takes care of all that for you, and is why they have an entire team dedicated to crafting new sessions.
Scientists can quantify these brain activity changes with technologies like qEEG [R].
Audio-visual entrainment (AVE)
Audio-visual entrainment (AVE) specifically uses audio and light to change your brain state, usually at precise frequencies ranging from 1 to 60 Hz.
As explained in my Brain.fm Review, binaural beats, pink noise, and isochronic tones all use audio entrainment.
Light works similarly, and is the core mechanism behind how the Sens.ai neurofeedback device stimulates the brain.
Tons of research shows how light and audio change brain state [R, R, R].
Like BWE, scientists can measure rapid shifts of brain function during AVE sessions. Including changes to
- Neurotransmitters
- Brain networks
- Nervous system state
- Blood flow
- Oxygenation; & more
Unlike electrostimulation, AVE is far safer and more accessible.
Benefits of the roXiva RX1 Light Therapy Lamp
No list of benefits does stroboscopic light therapy justice. What you experience completely depends on the session you choose.
Some of the many potential uses, benefits, and reports of using the roXiva RX1 lamp include:
- Enhanced states of consciousness
- Subconscious reprogramming
- Hypnosis
- Deeper meditations
- Cognitive enhancement
- Accelerated learning
- Restorative sleep
- Stress and anxiety relief
- Pain management
- Drug-free psychedelic trips
- Creativity enhancement
- Flow state inducement
- Productivity
- Out of body experiences
- Mystical experiences
There’s a strong use case for this as a drug-free psychedelic light therapy device, but the strength and chosen uses are 100% up to you.
Of course, the degree of benefit will vary from person to person, depending on neurochemistry.
What excites me most is that this appears to be one of the best ways to induce gamma brainwaves naturally.
A gamma-dominant state is what only advanced meditators with decades of experiences can sustain.
It’s that elusive “flow state” of genius, usually accessed only briefly during ultra-high performance.
My Experience With roXiva
I first tested the roXiva months ago. Having had no experience with the popular Lucia Light or any alternatives, I had no idea what to expect.
Naturally, I wanted to jump into the deep end and start with something strong. After all, most similar technologies have minimal noticeable effects.
I worried that I might have a “bad trip”.
Nevertheless, I’m mentally prepared.
Strangely, my time perception had warped. What felt like moments was actually 20 minutes. I emerged from the session feeling like I had gone through a real journey.
The intensity was about a 6/10 compared to a classical psychedelic trip
It definitely felt like an immersive journey complete with pulsing patterns, textures, fractals, sacred geometry, and even some images.
I did notice that my breath rate significantly increased during the session, so I actively controlled my breathing.
My Ultrahuman ring also registered an increased skin temperature and heart rate followed by a spike in a heart rate variability after the session.
Not bad, considering you could immediately return to daily activities without any pharmacological consequences.
Afterward, I learned how to navigate the RoXiva control panel to reduce the light or sound intensity. It took me a little playing around to figure out how to work the user interface.
My favorites are the psychedelic sessions as well as the gamma brainwaves such as:
- Halo
- Brain Bath
- Yin Yang
- Stellar Gateway
- Gamma Flow
- Nikola Tesla
This thing is a beast and I’m currently digging around to find more information.
RoXiva owners get access to their thriving Facebook group, and complimentary training and coaching.
Although it’s quite an interesting system, it has one glaring downside…
Pricing
Whenever I come across a technology that doesn’t list pricing on their website, I know it’s going to be expensive.
I know a few Lucia Light owners, so I already knew that the roXiva would be expensive.
Since it costs $5,500 plus taxes and shipping, it’s primarily marketed to businesses—coaches, healers, wellness clinics, biohacking centers, and spiritual groups.
Each roXiva RX1 device is so powerful that it can work on an entire room of people Share on XLuckily, they’ve pledged to never gate features behind a membership or any form of subscription.
I definitely recommend finding a local practitioner near you and trying it out for a few sessions.
Once you try the RX1, if you have the budget and want to get your own make sure to tell them in the contact form that Nick Urban from Outliyr sent you. That way, you receive VIP treatment.
Biohacks to Stack With roXiva to Amplify Effects
Midway through my first session, I already began to wonder about the biohacks I could stack with RoXiva to amplify the experience.
Some of the things I’d try combining with the RX1 light therapy lamp include:
- Vibroacoustic therapy
- Weighted blankets
- GABA agonist supplements
- PEMF therapy
- Float tanks
- Sensory deprivation
- Neurofeedback
- Psychedelic therapy
- Kanna, kava, or quality cacao
- Breathwork
- Brown’s gas
Vibroacoustic therapy uses tactile vibrations to guide your body into various states. It’s the technology behind “sound tables” or “sound beds.” InHarmony offers great deals, and my friend Dave McCusker makes high quality and strongest vibroacoustic therapy sound table. You can use code URBAN for $100 off.
This is the very best biohack to combine with roXiva, as it strengthens the audio component of all sessions.
Since light also impacts brain state more than audio, this helps boost the overall experience. Unfortunately, they can be quite pricey.
Weight blankets between 15-40 pounds soothe the nervous system, reduce overstimulation, and facilitate relaxation. Plus, they activate touch receptors and uplift mood.
While they’re mostly used for sleep, they also deepen the roXiva experience.
GABA-enhancing supplements deepen relaxation and introspection. They work perfectly with stress- and worry-relieving sessions, but may also enhance other types as well.
PEMF uses minuscule currents of electricity to rebalance bodily systems on the cellular level. Potentially stacks well for all modes and goals.
Float tanks and other sensory deprivation therapies work similarly to this technology and even activate similar brain regions. I’d imagine this would intensify all session types.
Neurofeedback is training that helps the brain better regulate itself. This stacks perfectly with RoXiva which gently guides the brain into particular states.
Classic psychedelic therapy. Unsurprisingly, there’s a definite use case of combining these therapies with this technology to dramatically intensify the overall experience.
I’d imagine this would significantly reduce the dosage needed and therefore improve tolerability. In fact, a microdose would likely be perfect.
Of course, only consider this under medical supervision and where legal.
Kava, kanna, and quality cacao are all natural substances rich in particular alkaloids that help the body process external stimuli more effectively.
While all of these botanicals are useful, kanna’s particularly interesting in this context.
Deliberate breathwork is a stack that I accidentally stumbled upon because it was the fastest way to regulate my nervous system through a very intense experience.
You can use this to intensify or reduce your session. Some forms of breathing on their own (Holotropic) can induce psychedelic states.
Breathwork pairs perfectly with psychedelic light therapy.
Brown’s gas is a little known therapy that helps the protect the body against cellular damage while also improving adaptation to new situations.
This can also help the brain produce energy more efficiently, which theoretically may improve neuroplasticity.
BG’s probably not the most effective stack, but definitely worth it if you have a Brown’s Gas or molecular hydrogen machine.
RoXiva RX1 Lamp Therapy Questions & Answers
Is it safe?
Yes, the RX1 is safe. It contains zero UV and emits less blue light than standard indoor lighting. You also close your eyes, further reducing any potentially damaging light spectrums.
RoXiva’s also worked with a third-party certification company to ensure their lighting is below the threshold of any damage (called the ”phototoxicity threshold”).
How often should I use it?
Research suggests that the threshold for maximum benefits is repeating the same session 3+ times per week for 3-5 weeks. Of course, even a single session can profoundly change the brain.
Personally, I like to switch up session type often and still notice a significant impact.
When is the best time of day to use roXiva?
Timing your session is up to you. Most people prefer stimulating sessions in the morning and more relaxing options in the evening.
However, some people do great using the calming and introspective sessions early in the day. So… Whenever fits your schedule!
What do you see while using roXiva?
While the particular journey you choose will determine the specifics of what you see, they all share similarities.
During every session, you’ll experience a dynamic, rhythmic blend of patterns, geometric shapes, kaleidoscopic images, biological imagery (like DNA strands and cellular structures), mosaics, and mandalas.
The images are elaborate and symmetrical, intense and vivid. What you see is constantly shifting throughout the session.
As you can tell, it’s quite difficult to describe.
Neuro Light Therapy With The roXiva RX1
As the field of neuroscience continues to better understand the brain, so too does technology better guide us into highly covenant states.
Old technologies like Binaural Beats were interesting in theory, but underwhelming. Especially over long-term usage.
Are we at the point where, with the click of a button, you can experience drug-free DMT, LSD, magic mushrooms, or even MDMA?
Or, to access the enlightened flow state that otherwise takes decades of long daily meditations to achieve?
While I haven’t found anything that exactly fits the bill, the roXiva RX1 so far comes closest.
For healers, doctors, health practitioners, and wellness clinics looking to differentiate themselves in a crowded market, this tool could be a game changer.
It’s certainly on the pricier side, so I suggest you find a practitioner near you. If you’re in Austin, reach out to me for a session.
Only after experiencing yourself would I suggest grabbing your own system.
If that’s you, make sure to tell them on the form that Nick Urban from Outliyr sent you to receive VIP treatment.
If it’s way out of budget, you can try this beginner-friendly system that uses similar AVE and BWE technology to put your brain into beneficial states.
Once you’ve tried this technology yourself, I’d love to know your experience or any unique use cases you’ve found. Drop a comment below and let me know!
